An 11-year-old girl may have been abducted while waiting for a school bus in Florida on Tuesday morning. CNN writes.
Police have released a surveillance video showing a girl waiting for a bus when a person suddenly jumps out of the car and runs towards her at full speed.
– A person got out of the car with a knife in hand. I tried to escape, but he caught me. I thought: What is he going to do? Where can I go? The 11-year-old tells Camera One in an interview how my family behaves.
Photos from the scene show the little girl resisting and finally being able to fight the kidnapper.
Look for the girl before
The same person is said to have visited an 11-year-old child at a bus stop two weeks ago, so his parents recently got on a school bus.
On Tuesday, the same day as the incident, he went on the bus alone again for the first time, police said.
– I can’t stop thinking how wrong this could have been. Police Chief Chip Simmons told reporters after the abduction attempt that it could have ended horribly if the 11-year-old victim had not resisted.
The girl was not seriously injured in the incident, but the 11-year-old mother still encourages all parents to be extra vigilant about such incidents.
He was arrested after major surgery
Video material police were able to locate the car and identify the suspected culprit. A major police operation was launched and a man in his 30s was arrested later that day.
Police said the blue toy mud was found in the man’s hand when he was arrested – the same mud the girl was playing with when the man tried to abduct her.
The man is accused of kidnapping and stabbing a 13-year-old child, CNN reports.
The man’s bodyguard did not want to comment on the case at this time.
