Fear Bolsanaro plans the plot

Tuesday, September 7, marks 199 years since Brazil seceded from Portugal.

Millions of people are expected to take part in protests across the country on Independence Day, after President Jair Bolsanaro called on supporters to take to the streets in support of the government.

Former world leaders, however, fear that these demonstrations could pose a threat to democracy, which, in the worst case scenario, could end in an uprising similar to the January 6 attack on Congress.

It writes Defender, Citing a letter signed by several influential people, including former Spanish Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero and former Labor leader Jeremy Corbyn.

Fear plot

“Members of Congress in Brazil have been warned that then-President Donald Trump was asking his supporters to stop election fraud after Tuesday’s demonstrations hit the US Congress on January 6,” The Guardian reported.

An additional concern was the Paulsonaro military parade held by former world leaders in Brasilia in August. The march took place on the same day as the House of Commons voted in favor of a Bolsanaro-backed proposal to reform the electoral system.

Nationwide demonstrations by Bolsanaro supporters, including white nationalists, military police and top politicians, create fears of a coup in the world’s third-largest democracy.
